Activities

Camping

Camping is limited to 14 days. After 14 days, campers must relocate at least 25 miles from previous site.

Chimney Creek and Long Valley campsites are located to the east and west of this wilderness area.

Pets

Pets must be under your control at all times.

Equestrian

Horseback riding is permitted throughout the area. Bring all needed supplies including water.

Hiking

Hiking is permitted throughout the area.

Hunting

Hunting, fishing, and non-commercial trapping are allowed under state and local laws.

Motor Vehicles

Motor vehicles are permitted on Chimney Creek Road which surrounds this wilderness area.

OHV

OHVs are permitted on Chimney Creek Road which surrounds this wilderness area.

Shooting

Please clean up your cartridges and target material.

Glass should not be used. Clay pigeons are discouraged as they're difficult for the user to clean up all debris.

Regulations & Recommendations

Vehicles are not permitted in wilderness areas.
Chimney Basin Road is not designated as part of a wilderness area. It is between the boundaries of Domeland Wilderness and Chimney Peak Wilderness. This road can be used by motor vehicles, OHVs and bicycles in addition to horses and hikers.
