Coyote Mountains Wilderness

Described as a fish hook shaped mountain range, the Coyote Mountains make up 40 percent of this wilderness. Part of the Carrizo Badlands lie within the northern portion of the wilderness, their narrow and twisting gullies giving the landscape its austere, forbidding appearance.

Camping

Camping is permitted, limited to 14 days. After 14 days, campers must relocate at least 25 miles from previous site. Please camp in previously disturbed sites.

Pets are allowed and must be under your control at all times.

Horses are permitted. Bring all needed supplies including water.

Hiking

Hiking

Hiking is permitted throughout the wilderness area.

Hunting

Hunting

Hunting, fishing, and non-commercial trapping are allowed under state and local laws.

Shooting

Shooting

Shooting is permitted.

Please clean up your cartridges and target material.

Glass should not be used. Clay pigeons are discouraged as they're difficult for the user to clean up all debris.

Trail Finder maps are a subset of the GPS map. Trail Finder maps of large regions do not include the lowest zoom levels. In most cases, the GPS map has two more layers of detail than the Trail Finder maps.
