U.S. Forest Service - Wilderness
This is an extremely rugged area with chaparral-covered peaks. There are only 15 miles of trails within the wilderness area. Access is provided by dirt roads and limited number of multi-use trails.

Primitive camping is permitted at the Hi Mountain Campground. Adventure Pass is required.
Dog are permitted on a leash no more than 6 feet long, or otherwise restrict its freedom to roam at will.
At night keep your dogs and other pets inside an enclosed vehicle or in a tent.
Developed campgrounds are for people, not animals. Please do not bring more than two dogs or other pet to any one campsite. Guide dogs are an exception.
Horseback riding is permitted on all National Forest trails and roads, except for nature trails.
Hiking is permitted throughout the wilderness area.
Hunting is permitted throughout the Los Padres National Forest during hunting seasons designated by the California State Department of Fish and Game.
Target shooting is permitted in many areas of the forest. Seasonal restrictions occur due to fire hazard. Check with the Ranger District office nearest to where you wish to visit before you shoot.
